									Valentia Island has a population of just over 600 residents. It is connected to the mainland at Portmagee by the Maurice O’Neill Memorial Bridge. The population increases during the summer months when holiday homeowners and seasonal visitors return to the island.

									Yes. Valentia Island has St. Derarca’s Primary School located in Chapeltown, along with a Creche and Childcare Centre in the same area.
The old school building in Knightstown now serves as the Valentia Island Heritage Centre.

The Ring Lyne in Chapeltown

									Valentia Island Community Hospital operates as a nursing home. For urgent or mobile medical assistance, South Doc in Cahersiveen (located in St. Anne’s Hospital) provides emergency care for a small fee.
